Resume Sanjay

My Professional voyage to present can be described as stated: 

Myself Sanjay PM, an architect native from Kannur, Kerala INDIA got into this profession 6 years back and into this community since last 12 years. My architecture schooling was in College of Engineering, Trivandrum the first of the kind in Kerala and affiliated to the University of Kerala. In 2008, I passed out with a remarkable performance in the B.Arch. course with a 6.7 GPA. My thesis during the Final semester of the course was done on the Proposed NIFT Campus at Kannur.

The Profession began with Architect Sathya Prakash Varanashi as an Intern in his office Satya Consultants Bangalore. His vernacular style of Architecture using the local and eco-friendly materials with breathing designs made my outbreak into the field. Here I got introduced to Residential designs and Retail outlet detailing and of which I was made a vital role in throughout the projects. I got exposed to site meetings and visits at regular intervals of time along with him despite the fact that I was an intern there. This was really an inspiring movement from his side to make the fellow mates to be proactive in the field rather than indulging to only drafting jobs. There I have made scale models of the residences to explain the scheme to the clients. The training under his guidance made me more enrolled into architecture.

Bangalore hosted me once again when I finished my course and joined to work with Ar.Nagaraj Vastarey in 2008.An architect turned writer he was more into the diplomatic part of the profession marking his own way of approach in detailing. God is in the details was revealed to me during the period I worked there. One year I was deeply motivated to make really good details and apply most of the hard work into it. Working on detailing of a Bio Management College namely Acharya Institute of Biosciences I was made part of the detailing team preparing the Custom made Steel drawings for trusses, hand railings, and Skylights and more. Steel detailing was a new chapter in my career and the precise and depth that was given to it was tough at the moment but proved to be fruitful in the later days.

He made me design schemes for residences in the very small sites of the city and making me trained in utilizing the maximum coverage. Discussions and debates were there at the extreme making the designing mood be educative enough. I worked on a couple of residential detailing projects and was part of scheme preparations and making presentations for an apartment and residence at the time.

The site visits and meetings were more informative and made eye opening into the practical side of the detailing. During the site visits the interaction with the labourers and site engineers proved really worth enough in understating the project and construction even better. It made me explore my ability to interact and communicate technically and in a good manner to people which I believe is the most important thing in life irrespective of any profession. 

In 2009 Dec, I joined NM Salim & Associates Calicut, returning back to Kerala.One of the earliest Architecture practices in Kerala, Dr.Salim was my teacher in the commercial side of Architecture. Architect Amanullah was the senior in the Architect and he guided the office in the preparation of working drawings and details required for the execution. Major projects done here were two ongoing apartments and a residence.

I got to be the leader of one of the technical team in the office and assigned with me was a draftsperson and a 3D visualizer. Our team was given the responsibility of these 2 apartments ZedPlus and Bellmare in Kannur. There was mutual working with the services consultants Spec and the in-house structural team. Coordination and project progression was my responsibility and even during peak pressure and time schedules I managed my level best in bringing up the projects to my best.

I got the opportunity in assisting Dr.Salim in the one of the major projects of the office at the time, The Kannur University Official Campus. It included the Central Library Complex and Guesthouse and allied buildings for residential purposes. Along with him, I was taken to design some Auditoriums as well.

I was assigned the duty of conducting periodic site visits every 2 weeks and submitting the site visit reports at the month end. I was made to attend the tender meetings for the University Project which was a worthy experience to my job.

After a year I moved to Dubai getting a job in Third Column Engineering Consultancy and where I presently work since last 4 years. The office lead by Architect Jayadev Edakkandy and Structural Engineer Mr.Hari Anandan got me introduced into the Industrial designs and Warehouse Projects which was a different career path to me. Apart from the industrial projects here we worked for major residential projects including an Apartment in Kiluwa for Gulf Homes,Mombasa Kenya and a number of villa projects. The designing and taking approval from the Dubai Municipality and preparing the working and service drawings and their coordination was my major job profile here.

Pharmacy building for Geltec Pharma in technopark Dubai and Warehouse and workshop for Alstom and Rehmat Ali in Jabel Ali were a few to name with. Civil defence and EHS approvals were taken during every project abiding the DM Green Building Rules and regulations.

I was made part to do the online submissions and interact with the Dubai Municipality officials during the discussions. Client meetings and discussions were conducted in our office to which I was also a part of. Being sent to attend discussions of the project in the municipality provided me the opportunity to interact with senior level officials enhancing my vision.

During the core of the profession until now, I got skilled with the necessary software for drawing preparation, modelling and rendering.

My vision and philosophy towards my profession is to give the best to my clients and to grasp the best from the senior levels and through other means of information thus enabling my self-growth in knowledge and personality. I strongly believe that it’s the opportunity and training that moulds any professional to the level best.

My service shall be ensured in providing the best of my ability to the clients and employers with my present knowledge and with my expansion of my view within from the group to which I gets absorbed into and finding the best opportunity in the job being offered to.
